Commodity Crops

SREE PLC acquired 6,000 HA of land of productive soil to grow commodity crops. Zambia is producing high quantities of Maize among the Eastern and southern Africa region having  very good rain fall in SADC (Southern African Development Community) countries. Maize grown all around the country and Jointly these three factors; good weather, optimal  fertilizer use, and improved maize seed verity increases in yield from the base from the previous periods.

The Zambia agri sector supports more than 80% of the population. Maize is their principal cash crop  (with 60-65% of cropped land) also the main staple crop. In Zambia Per capita consumption of maize is estimated at 105 kilograms annually (most of which is ground into meal and consumed as stiff porridge).

Maize meal, knows as “mealie meal” in Zambia, is largely classified into; the first grade “breakfast meal” and the second grade “roller meal”. Zambia has a lot of potential in exporting the maize to the neighboring countries ; Democratic Republic of the Congo to the north, Tanzania to the north-east, Malawi to the east, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Botswana and Namibia to the south, and Angola to the west.

SREE PLC is focusing on “Maize farming, Milling, Processing, Packaging & distributing” which can cover 5% of the market demand in Zambia and having great potential to export in to the neighboring countries of Zambia. The processing industry is going to be at prime location between Ndola and Kitwe which can cover the entire Copperbelt Province and the DRCongo which is very close neighboring country.
